VITREOGRAPH

A vitreograph is a print that is made from using a glass matrix. These hand-pulled prints that are created through intaglio processes are achieved from etching plate glass. There are a variety of techniques that can be used to etch the glass, for example: sandblasting the surface with sand or carborundum, frosting and etching with a mild caustic solution, or grinding with diamond tip tools to create crevices in which the ink can settle into.
